Congratulations to Sunflower Labs on their $16 Million Series B!

We are delighted to extend our most heartfelt congratulations to Sunflower Labs for their outstanding achievement in raising a $16 million Series B funding round, led by Sequoia Capital.
This milestone comes at a pivotal moment in the evolution of drone-enabled security technologies—and the DIA-S community is proud to count Sunflower Labs among our leading innovators.
Why this matters for our industry
Sunflower Labs is breaking new ground in autonomous aerial security systems. A few highlights:
-
They secured nationwide authorisation from Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations across almost 99% of the United States.
-
Their “Beehive” system combines robotics, AI, sensor-fusion and autonomous flight to deliver faster response times, reduced labour dependency and more effective coverage for high-value sites (residential, commercial and industrial).
-
They launched an interactive online configuration tool that gives customers a visual preview of drone coverage, flight paths, response times and service options.
-
With the new funding they plan to accelerate AI development, expand into the U.S., Europe and Latin America and deepen integrations with Alarm.com’s platform and dealer network.
For our members working in drone hardware, software, operations or security integration, this is a strong signal: the convergence of unmanned systems with security operations is accelerating—and commercial-scale solutions are becoming real.
What this means for DIAS and our members
-
Innovation acceleration: Sunflower Labs’ success demonstrates that the bar for autonomous drone systems is rising fast. Members developing software platforms or integrating unmanned systems into security chains should view this as both an opportunity and a benchmark.
-
Market validation: Significant funding and FAA authorisation tell us that the regulatory, technical and commercial elements are aligning. This boosts confidence for companies working in BVLOS, autonomous patrol, AI-enabled drones and security-centric use cases.
-
Partnership potential: With the push into Europe and Latin America, there may be openings for collaboration, hardware-software integration or regional deployment partners. DIAS members may wish to explore how they could engage.
-
Thought-leadership opportunity: We in the Swiss/European drone ecosystem can learn from Sunflower Labs’ approach—how they managed regulatory interfaces (FAA), how they shaped a configuration tool for customers, and how the funding enables scaling. I encourage our members to engage, ask questions and draw insights into their own strategic plans.
Closing thoughts
Once again: congratulations to Sunflower Labs for this significant achievement. We appreciate your leadership in the field, and we look forward to what comes next. On behalf of the DIAS board and our entire membership: keep soaring, keep innovating, and let’s continue to raise the bar for autonomous aerial systems.
