DIAS at the Heart of Sustainable Mobility Discussions in Geneva

This week, DIAS (Drone Industry Association Switzerland) had the pleasure of participating in a forward-looking dialogue on mobility innovation, hosted during the visit of Karin Mössenlechner, Ambassador of the Netherlands, together with Deputy Head of Mission Leonoor van Munster. The delegation was welcomed by Honorary Consul Caroline Visser Bartel and invited to explore the innovation landscape at tpg – Transports publics genevois, Geneva’s public transport operator.
The session showcased TPG’s strong commitment to preparing public transport for the future, led by Jeroen A. Beukers, Head of Innovation. As cities evolve, the challenges of congestion, emissions and service efficiency demand a broader view of mobility ecosystems. TPG’s strategic direction reflects exactly that: a multi-modal approach embracing shared mobility, electrification, and autonomous systems.
Where Drones Fit into the Future of Mobility
DIAS Secretary General Bart Slager joined the discussion alongside experts from Swiss e-mobility startup Miloo. The conversations explored the role of alternative transportation not only for people, but also for goods — and how emerging solutions such as drones can complement public mobility infrastructure.
From last-mile deliveries and medical logistics to support for emergency response teams, drones are increasingly positioned as a critical layer within sustainable mobility networks. When developed responsibly, they can integrate seamlessly with public transport nodes, offering efficiency where roads are congested and where timeliness is critical.
Collaboration as a Path to Sustainable Mobility
What stood out throughout the discussion was the shared vision: sustainability is only achievable through collaboration. Public transport operators, innovators in autonomous mobility, and representatives of national and local authorities must work together to provide viable alternatives that benefit both people and goods.
DIAS is proud to represent the drone industry at the intersection of innovation and policy, ensuring that Swiss drone technology remains aligned with sustainable mobility goals in Europe and beyond. We welcome the growing interest from diplomatic and industry stakeholders in integrating drones as part of the broader mobility strategy — not as a standalone technology, but as a complementary and responsible service to society.
Building the Future Together
We thank Ambassador Mössenlechner, Deputy Head of Mission van Munster, Honorary Consul Visser Bartel, and TPG for fostering such an insightful and collaborative exchange. As this shared agenda continues to expand, DIAS looks forward to contributing Swiss expertise and industry dialogue to Europe’s evolving sustainable mobility landscape.
Together, we are building the transport systems of tomorrow.
