Swiss Drone Industry Day 2026 Navigating the Future of Swiss Airspace and Innovation

Last Thursday, the Swiss drone ecosystem came together at Swisscom, Ittigen for the DIAS Swiss Drone Industry Day 2026 & General Assembly — a full-day event dedicated to the future of Swiss airspace, drone operations, regulation, innovation, and collaboration across the industry.

The event brought together regulators, operators, manufacturers, public safety organisations, researchers, infrastructure providers, innovators, and policymakers from across Switzerland and beyond for a day of open discussion, valuable networking, and forward-looking conversations around the future of aviation and drone integration.

Swiss Airspace Forum – Navigating a shared sky

The morning session focused heavily on one of the most important challenges facing the industry today: how Switzerland safely integrates an increasing number of aerial users into an already complex airspace environment.

With confirmed participation from FOCA representatives and leading industry experts, the discussions explored:

  • U-space developments and implementation
  • FASST in Switzerland
  • Future airspace coordination mechanisms
  • Aviation adaptation and evolving regulatory frameworks
  • The operational realities of scaling drone activity safely and efficiently

The session highlighted the importance of collaboration between regulators, operators, and industry stakeholders as Switzerland continues positioning itself as one of the global leaders in advanced drone integration.

Regulation, Operations & Industry Maturity

Throughout the day, speakers discussed the ongoing transition of drones from emerging technology into operationally critical infrastructure across sectors such as:

  • Public safety
  • Inspection and infrastructure
  • Emergency response
  • Logistics and automation
  • Remote operations and live streaming
  • Enterprise workflows and data management

A recurring theme was the growing need for operational maturity, interoperability, secure ecosystems, and scalable workflows as the industry moves beyond experimentation into long-term deployment.

There was also significant discussion around balancing innovation with safety, regulation, and public confidence — an increasingly important topic as drone operations become more visible within society.

Industry Innovation & Ecosystem Collaboration

The afternoon sessions shifted toward broader industry and ecosystem discussions, including innovation, funding, collaboration opportunities, and future technology trends.

Topics included:

  • AI-supported drone operations
  • Connected airspace infrastructure
  • Future operational ecosystems
  • Dual-use innovation opportunities
  • Collaboration between industry, academia, and public organisations
  • The evolving role of Swiss drone companies internationally

The diversity of perspectives throughout the day demonstrated both the strength and maturity of the Swiss drone ecosystem, as well as the increasing importance of cross-sector collaboration to unlock the next stage of growth.

DIAS General Assembly & Member Discussions

The DIAS General Assembly provided an important opportunity for members to discuss the future direction of the association, ongoing initiatives, and how DIAS can continue evolving to best support its members and the wider Swiss drone ecosystem.

Constructive feedback and open discussions throughout the day reinforced the collaborative spirit within the association and highlighted the shared ambition to continue strengthening Switzerland’s position as a global leader in drone innovation.

Thank You

A huge thank you to all speakers, panel participants, members, partners, and attendees for contributing to such an engaging and valuable day.

The quality of the discussions, presentations, networking, and feedback throughout the event demonstrated once again the depth of expertise and innovation within the Swiss drone industry.

We would also like to thank everyone for the constructive feedback around how DIAS can continue improving the way we work and support the ecosystem moving forward.

We are incredibly excited for the year ahead and look forward to continuing to grow and evolve as an organisation while helping support the future of Swiss drone innovation, operations, and airspace integration.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make Swiss Drone Industry Day 2026 such a success.
