Working Group on Swiss Geozones Kicks Off

Last week, DIAS – Drone Industry Association Switzerland launched its first working group focused on simplifying and standardising drone authorisation processes within Switzerland’s complex network of geozones.

We were joined by a group of industry stakeholders, with representatives from Axpo Group, SBB CFF FFS, Swisscom Broadcast, Sunflower Labs, Wingtra, UASolutions and Digisky. The session was expertly facilitated by Adrien Paillard and supported by Bart Slager.

The working group aims to address growing challenges faced by operators, including inconsistent processes, excessive restrictions, and mounting authorisation fees in geozones across the country. Together, we are working towards:

🔹 Streamlined, standardised, and scalable authorisation processes

🔹 Fewer and better-defined geozones

🔹 Greater awareness among authorities about professional drone use

🔹 Protecting the profitability and sustainability of the Swiss drone ecosystem

💡 This is just the beginning. Up next:

We will soon launch our second working group: “Building a More Resilient, Swiss-Optimised Drone Supply Chain.”
